Sabato 10 aprile, alle 15 in piazza Fiera a Trento, ci sarà la seconda manifestazione nazionale della campagna #StopCasteller per la chiusura della struttura detentiva del Casteller in solidarietà e per la liberazione di M49, M57 e DJ3, tre esemplari di orso bruno rinchiusi nella prigione a sud della città.
M49:
M49, chiamato anche “Papillon”, dopo essere sfuggito a diverse trappole viene catturato il 14 luglio 2019, e rinchiuso in un recinto elettrificato nel “centro faunistico” del Casteller a Trento, cattura avvenuta a seguito delle denunce di danni degli allevatori locali. La sua prigionia durerà poco meno di un’ora perché alle prime ore dell’alba l’orso fugge dal recinto, scavalcando una barriera alta 4 metri e tre recinti elettrificati. Tra il 29 a e il 30 aprile 2020 dopo quasi un anno di libertà M49 cade in una trappola a tubo e viene trasferito nuovamente al centro detentivo del Casteller. Nella notte del 27 luglio 2020, l’orso abbatte una parte della recinzione e conquista per la seconda volta la libertà. A settembre 2020 viene catturato nuovamente dopo essere stato narcotizzato e tutt’ora si trova rinchiuso.
M57:
Da un comunicato stampa dell’amministrazione provinciale trentina, si apprende che intorno alle 22,30 del 22 agosto 2020 un carabiniere, che passeggiava insieme a un’altra persona in attesa di prendere servizio per il turno notturno nei pressi del lago-biotopo di Andalo, ha subito un attacco da parte di un orso e riportato ferite. La responsabilità dell’attacco viene attribuita al giovane orso M57, che viene catturato la notte stessa per disposizione del governatore Maurizio Fugatti. Dopo essere stato narcotizzato viene imprigionato al Casteller.
DJ3:
DJ3 è figlia di Daniza, l’orsa nota perché a lungo ricercata e poi uccisa nel 2014, e di Joze, due fondatori della popolazione ursina trentina. DJ3 è reclusa da quasi 10 anni, ovvero metà della sua vita, al Casteller. È stata catturata nel maggio del 2011 in quanto definita “pericolosa” (l’ordinanza era scattata dopo la predazione di una pecora all’interno dell’abitato di Roncone). Con lei è stata usata con successo per la prima volta nelle Alpi italiane e in Trentino la trappola a tubo, poi diventata un strumento ben noto.
La nostra solidarietà va a tuttx coloro (umanx e non) che ogni giorno evadono, aggrediscono sbirraglia varia o che da dentro le gabbie sognano la libertà.
Per una vita selvaggia e senza catene.

Saturday, 10th of April, at 3 pm in Piazza Fiera in Trento, there is going to be the second national demonstration of the campaign #StopCasteller for the closure of the detention facility of the Casteller in solidarity and for the release of M49, M57 and DJ3, three brown bears locked up in the prison in the south of the city.
M49:
M49, also called “Papillon”, after escaping several traps was captured on the 14th of July 2019, and locked up in an electrified enclosure in the “wildlife center” of Casteller in Trento, capture that took place following complaints of damage from local farmers. His imprisonment lasted just under an hour because in the early hours of dawn the bear escaped from the enclosure, climbing over a 4-meter high barrier and three electrified fences. In the night between the 29th and the 30th of April 2020 after almost a year of freedom M49 fell into a tube trap and was transferred back to the Casteller detention center. On the night of the 27th of July 2020, the bear took down part of the fence and gained his freedom for the second time. In September 2020 he was captured again after being narcotized and is still locked up.
M57:
From a press release of the Trentino provincial administration, we learn that around 22.30 of August 22, 2020 a carabiniere (member of the military), who was walking with another person waiting to take service for the night shift near the lake-biotope of Andalo, suffered an attack by a bear and reported injuries. The responsibility of the attack is attributed to the young bear M57, which was captured the same night by order of the governor Maurizio Fugatti. After being narcotized he was imprisoned at the Casteller.
DJ3:
DJ3 is the daughter of Daniza, the bear known for being long wanted and then killed in 2014, and Joze, two founders of the Trentino bear population. DJ3 has been a recluded for nearly 10 years, half of her life, at the Casteller. She was captured in May 2011 as she was defined as “dangerous” (the order was triggered after the predation of a sheep inside the village of Roncone). With her capture the tube trap was successfully used for the first time in the Italian Alps and in Trentino, then it became a well-known tool.
