Gli uccelli di Canberra, Australia, stanno attaccando i droni di Google finché lo scorso martedì Google ha annunciato l’interruzione provvisoria del suo servizio di consegne. Google ha già effettuato decine di migliaia di consegne con questi droni, il prodotto di punta sono i caffè e ne sono stati consegnati più di 10mila. Gli utenti possono selezionare anche altri prodotti, tra cui polli arrosto, snack e medicinali. Gli attacchi dei volatili sono stati documentati da diversi video, si legge in un comunicato della azienda: “Alcuni uccelli della zona hanno mostrato un comportamento estremamente territoriale, attaccando in picchiata qualsiasi oggetto in movimento”.
Il capitalismo diviene sempre più capillare e colonizza anche i cieli con la tecnologia dei droni. Il fatto che questi apparecchi si spostino dove finora gli uccelli potevano muoversi indisturbati sta creando grossi problemi. Sembra che in generale, gli uccelli reagiscono più fortemente nei confronti dei droni rispetto ad altri animali selvatici ma tuttavia, anche tra gli uccelli esistono differenze. Mentre alcune specie manifestano solo un aumento dell’attenzione, altri fuggono anche se il drone si trova ancora a grande distanza. Spesso gli uccelli non sembrano affatto reagire ai droni, ciò non significa tuttavia che questi ultimi non abbiano alcun effetto. Uccelli in cova, ad esempio, non abbandonano il nido neanche se disturbati ma malgrado ciò sono comunque sotto stress. Il fatto che un uccello reagisca o meno a un drone dipende da vari fattori. Un avvicinamento diretto causa solitamente la fuga. È particolarmente drammatico quando smettono di covare, oppure non iniziano nemmeno. Inoltre, se un uccello o un altro animale selvatico viene periodicamente costretto a fuggire, in casi estremi può morire per sfinimento.

Birds in Canberra, Australia are attacking Google’s drones until Google announced last Tuesday that it was temporarily shutting down its delivery service.
