Cinque Tori Scappano: da venti giorni latitanti nei boschi [ITA/ENG]

A metà maggio cinque tori sono fuggiti dalla cascina in cui erano rinchiusi per essere allevati come tori da rodeo. Tre di loro sono, dopo venti giorni dalla fuga, tutt’ora liberi e si nascondono nei boschi tra San Gillio e Druento in provincia di Torino. Per la loro cattura è stato messo in campo un quantitativo spropositato di forze. Come riportano alcuni giornali:
“Torre fari per illuminare la notte, droni con termocamera che sorvolano i 20 chilometri quadrati di boscaglia a macchie, mucche usate come “esca” e recinti sistemati per intrappolarli, attirandoli con il cibo. Non solo, allevatori della zona allertati e volontari in cerca di orme fresche. E decine e decine di uomini di protezione civile, polizia municipale e guardie zoofile che da giorni lavorano senza sosta”. 
Purtroppo la fuga di due dei cinque tori è stata interrotta. Sabato notte uno di loro è stato investito ed è morto mentre il secondo è stato catturato la sera seguente.

Uno dei tre tori ancora liberi infine è stato isolato dal resto del gruppo questa notte ed è tuttora circondato. Le intenzioni sarebbero quelle di aspettare che si tranquillizzi per poterlo anestetizzare senza che scappi.
Riguardo il toro investito e morto sul colpo, i giornalisti si sono limitati a esprimere sollievo per il fatto che l’uomo che conduceva la macchina fosse risultato illeso. Non c’è spazio per analizzare lo sfruttamento che ha portato gli animali a fuggire e per uno dei tori anche alla morte. Non si parla del motivo per cui si sia creata questa situazione, dell’assurdità del rodeo. L’unico momento in cui si parla di crudeltà  è quando essa è “gratuita”, cioè non giustificata. Abbattere questi tori fuggiaschi sarebbe crudele, ma rinchiuderli e sfruttarli negli spettacoli invece no. Le istituzioni auspicano che i tori vengano catturati “senza danni per cose o persone” e che tornino a essere sfruttati “conforme a regolamenti e norme vigenti”.
La priorità è molto chiara qui: prima le persone e le loro proprietà, dopo i tori che spesso non vengono neanche menzionati. L’ovvia lista di priorità di un sistema specista e capitalista.
Ci opponiamo all’ideologia specista che si manifesta nelle reazioni da parte delle istituzioni alla fuga di quei cinque tori. La nostra solidarietà va ai fuggiaschi e tutti coloro che sono ancora rinchiusi negli allevamenti.

Five Bulls Escape: for twenty days fugitives in the woods

In mid-May five bulls escaped from the farmhouse where they were confined to be bred as rodeo bulls. Twenty days after their escape, three of them are still free and are hiding in the woods between San Gillio and Druento in the province of Turin. For their capture a disproportionate amount of forces has been deployed. As reported by some newspapers:

“Tower headlights to illuminate the night, drones with thermal imaging cameras flying over the 20 square kilometers of scrub brush in spots, cows used as “bait” and fences set up to trap them, luring them with food. Not only that, alerted area ranchers and volunteers looking for fresh tracks. And dozens and dozens of men of civil protection, municipal police and animal guards who have been working non-stop for days.”

Unfortunately, the escape of two of the five bulls was cut short. Saturday night one of them was run over and died while the second was captured the following evening.
One of the three remaining free bulls finally was isolated from the rest of the group tonight and is still surrounded. The intentions would be to wait for him to calm down so that they can anesthetize him without him running away.

About the run over bull who has died, journalists have restricted themselves to convey relief because the man who drove the car resulted unharmed. There’s no space to analyse the exploitation that has pushed the animals into escaping and that has, for one of them, led to death. Not a word about the reasons that have created this situations. Cruelty is only mentioned when it is gratuitous, unjustified. To kill these fugitive bulls would be cruel, but cage and exploit them in the shows not. Institutions hope that bulls will be captured without any “damage to things or people” and that they will go back to be exploited “in accompliance with current regulations and rules”.

Priorities are quite clear: first people and property and at last the bulls, which often are not even mentioned. The obvious priority list of a speciesist capitalist system.

We oppose the speciesist ideology that arise from the authorities’ responses to the five bulls’ escape. Our solidarity goes to the fugitives and to everybody who is still caged in breeding farms.
